What
airport in Italy should I fly into?
Naples
International Airport is the closest airport to the
Amalfi Coast, but because it is a smaller airport,
it may be more expensive to fly into. I think we
will fly into Rome and then either drive or take a
train to the Amalfi Coast.
Rome Leonardo da Vinci
(Fiumicino) Airport (FCO)
Naples International Airport (NAP)
How
much is airfare?
According to Frommer's, "Fares to Italy are constantly changing, but you can expect to pay somewhere in the range of $400 to $800 for a direct round-trip ticket from New York to Rome in coach class." You may be able to find better
than $400 if you really look. I found a round-trip ticket today (March 13) for $379 on
bestfares.com. I am going to continue to look for cheap airfares, so if you would like me to email you when I see cheap fares,
let me know.
How
long does it take to get there?
Flying
time to Rome from New York is 8 hours; from Chicago,
10 hours; and from Los Angeles, 12 1/2 hours.
Flight time for Rome to Naples is 45 minutes.
Driving from Rome is 3.5 hours by car
Driving from Amalfi is 1 hour by car
